Kevin Holm-Hudson, Professor of Music Theory, earned his Master of Music in composition from Syracuse University, and his Doctorate of Musical Arts in composition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the author of the textbook Music Theory Remixed (Oxford University Press) and Genesis and the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (Ashgate), and the editor of the collection Progressive Rock Reconsidered (Routledge). He is also an active songwriter and performer, both as a solo artist and with his band Dr. Kevin Holm-Hudson & The Adjuncts. His first album, Message from the Margins (2021), was nominated for Album of the Year in the Lexington Music Awards, Appalachian Arts & Entertainment (APPY) Awards, and the Nashville-based Josie Awards. A second album, The Trembling Air (2022), was also nominated for an APPY Award. His music can be heard at kevin-holm-hudson.bandcamp.com, as well as all streaming platforms.
